My WordPress website keeps getting hacked. I’ve been told there’s not much I can do about it. Is that true?

It’s true that hackers will always be trying to compromise websites, however it is not true that there is nothing you can do about it.
In my experience, the main reasons a WordPress based website gets hacked is due to the following:

1. Weak admin password like “password”. Always use a strong password that uses upper and lower case and numbers with at least 8 characters.
2. WordPress and Plug-in updates are not being done.
3. WordPress weaknesses are exploited. The solution is to install a Security Plug-in. I recommend Better WP Security.

Here at Spotty Dog Computer Services we charge a Monthly Maintenance fee to our Website customers which covers all updates and a full backup of the entire website every month.
This minimises the risk of being hacked and if something does go wrong, there is a complete backup to restore the website.
